Creating a Positive Candidate Experience

When the time eventually comes for a successfully filled placement to complete the project they were contracted to fulfill, or their end date approaches without extension, here at Market Street Talent, that's when we seize the opportunity to connect and listen. We make an effort to contact each and every candidate contracted with us following their end date for a candid conversation about all aspects of their employment experience; what they liked and didn't like, how well they felt their technical skills were put to use, and the relationship with their manager are just a few of the topics we cover. While it may be seen as an optional practice in the recruiting industry, to us here at MST, it's an important last step in our offboarding procedures. One candidate we recently interviewed shared with us that, over a decade of contract work, only one other agency had ever asked for their feedback. We ask because we care. And because our consultants are willing to share inside details with us that are otherwise unavailable to recruiting agencies. We gain invaluable insights into our candidates' perspectives on their entire professional experience, including both their time working with MST and their experience at the client company. We are able to use this information to make even better, more tailored matches for future placements within that department for the client. After conducting numerous exit interviews as Human Resources Coordinator, there is an undeniable theme that resonates throughout nearly all of our former consultants' testimonials: a positive experience.

The exit interview process for us is a meaningful opportunity to have an open dialogue about the candidate's perspective on our onboarding processes, their satisfaction with the client company we placed them with, how accurately the role was represented, and their overall experience throughout the process.

It doesn't end there. We don't just listen to the feedback. We share it with the team. We discuss suggestions for improvement. We implement changes. We continually strive to enhance our processes to deliver the best possible candidate experience. This is why we also ask our candidates for feedback via an anonymous electronic survey following their onboarding, then quarterly for one year, and then annually throughout their employment with us. This added check-in serves as a reminder to our consultants that we are always here for them and willing to listen. As a result, we are proud to say that the rating score to our survey question, "How likely are you to recommend Market Street Talent to a friend or colleague?" currently stands at a 9.5 out of 10.
