#WITNH2017: Thank You to All!

Written by Market Street Talent | April 11, 2017

After lots of anticipation and preparation, the 2017 Women in Technology event took place yesterday evening at the One Hundred Club in downtown Portsmouth. It was beautiful weather, and we had a great turnout!

Dr. Lauren Provost, Director of Science and Technology Outreach at Dartmouth College, delivered a compelling keynote address about her personal journey into the technology field. Dr. Provost spoke at length about the importance of mentoring women and girls in tech, and highlighted the impact her own mentors made on her career and her life. The subsequent panel of technologists gave their thoughts on developing a culture in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) where women can thrive. Our discussion panel members were Jenny Houston, Executive Vice President at Warwick Mills; Leslie Ann Buckley, Division Vice President of Northeast Division Engineering and NOC at Comcast; Mary Jane Horne, Division Vice President of Engineering Construction and Commercial Services at Comcast; and Colleen Karpinsky Cone, Vice President of Talent and Culture at Skillsoft. Dr. Loretta Brady, Professor at Saint Anselm College and President of BDS Insight, served as moderator throughout an enthusiastic, interactive conversation.

The goal of the Women in Technology event series is to continue shedding light on the importance of taking steps to attract and retain women in technology, thus expanding our region’s workforce, bettering our businesses, and supporting gender diversity in STEM. All of us at Market Street Talent would like to extend sincere thanks to our co-sponsors, BDS Insight and Diversity Workforce Coalition, and to everyone who attended. We are so pleased with the success of last night’s event, and are already thinking about next year!
